Lexington Public Library Seeks Advisory Board Members

Individuals committed to a better Lexington for all encouraged to apply

Lexington, Kentucky (December 7, 2021) – The Lexington Public Library is actively recruiting new advisory board members to help guide long-term strategies and serve as community advocates. The Library’s longstanding commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion extends to the Board of Trustees and Advisory Board. Advisory Board members serve on Board committees and advise the Board of Trustees as they set policies, budgets, and priorities for the Lexington Public Library.

"Board members are the fiduciaries who steer the Library towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies,” said Heather Dieffenbach, Lexington Public Library Executive Director. “Additionally, these committed individuals help ensure the Library has adequate resources to advance its mission."

All applicants are reviewed by the library and appointed by the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council. Once selected as a trustee or advisor, there is a 4-year commitment which includes a monthly meeting at 4:30 pm on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Additionally, each member is expected to serve on one board committee.
