The Printz Award is given by the American Library Association to the author of a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature.

The New York Times Best Seller List is a weekly chart that tracks the week's best-selling books in the United States. Unlike some subsequent lists of best sellers, The New York Times list is not based upon total sales figures, but instead upon surveys of a selected sample of retail booksellers.

The Belpré Award medal is given by the American Library Association and the National Association to Promote Library and Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish-Speaking (REFORMA) to a Latino/Latina writer and illustrator whose works best portray, affirm, and celebrate the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth.

The Caldecott Medal is given by the American Library Association to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.
