Lloyd Hughes is a fourth-generation metalsmith from Lexington. Since studying under a master blacksmith in 1982, he has created works out of steel, bronze, copper and aluminum, including gates, railing, furniture, sculpture, and mobiles that can be found across America. In 2002, he helped create the National Ornamental and Miscellaneous Metals Association's Education Foundation to expand educational opportunities in the ornamental metals industry. He served as the Foundation's first chairman. Hughes teaches kinetic art classes at the Living Arts & Science Center and at local elementary schools.
