E-mail Reference

Through the e-mail reference, LPL's reference librarians will provide brief answers to factual questions or suggest materials for you to use online or during your next visit to the library.

Examples of appropriate questions include:

  • Where can I write to the president?
  • What is the web address of the American Cancer Society?
  • Who was the first man on the moon?
  • Where can I look for biographical information on John Steinbeck?

For complete answers to more in-depth questions, users will be asked to visit the library, rather than using the e-mail reference service.

The Reference staff is not qualified to give advice on legal, business, tax or medical issues.

Requests from residents of Lexington and Fayette County or library cardholders will be given first priority. All other requests will be handled as time permits.

We will attempt to answer questions in 24 hours, Monday through Thursday. Questions received on Fridays and weekends will be answered as early as possible the following week. If you need a more immediate answer, please visit the library or call telephone reference at (859) 231-5520.

Please exclude any "A's" youmight have on your card.

Enter your question below. Please be as specific as possible. Users may be asked to call or visit the library if their question requires further clarification or detailed research. For questions regarding genealogy, local history, or Lexington Newspapers please use the Kentucky Room form.
