Summer Reading Adult Reader Instructions

Here's How To Do It:

  • Starting the day you pick up your reading log, read anything you like—books, magazines, newspapers, even listen to audio books or try a playaway.
  • Read a little bit each day.
  • Keep track of how much time you spend reading on your reading log.
  • You can also earn minutes by doing activities listed below.
  • Limit 5 hours of activities, please.
  • When you've read 15 hours, bring your reading log into the Library for a prize. Turn in the entry form on the right for a chance to win other prizes.
  • When you return your completed reading log you can enter to win Prizes! [1]
  • NOTE: You can't get prizes the same day you sign-up.
  • Only one finisher prize per person.
  • Maximum of five prize entries per person.

Activities can count for up to a total of 5 hours of reading time

  • Come to a program at the Library - earn 1 hour.
  • Bring a friend to a program at the Library - earn 15 minutes.
  • Read to someone - earn 15 minutes.

Summer Reading Kickoff Party

Noteworthy Landscape Plants

 [9]Come learn all about proven landscape plant performers for the Bluegrass. These include shrubs and perennials, many native, that have outstanding ornamental attributes and few pest problems. 		Tates Creek Branch - Large Conference Room

Dinosaur Club

 [10]Come to the Dinosaur Club at the Village Branch to participate in all kinds of fun dinosaur activities! This program will be most enjoyed by children between the ages of 5 and 12. 		Village Branch - Small Meeting Room

Little Diggers Storytime

 [11]This story time will allow children to build reading readiness skills through stories, songs, finger plays, rhymes, and games. Children 5 and younger are welcome. 		Village Branch -

Groundbreaking Animals

 [12]The Natural History Education company will showcase animals that dig into the ground for their prey. See live animals such as a raccoon, opossum, bobcat and more. Recommended for ages 5 and up. 		Northside Branch - Large Conference Room

Dinosaur Club

 [13]Come to the Dinosaur Club at the Village Branch to participate in all kinds of fun dinosaur activities! This program will be most enjoyed by children between the ages of 5 and 12. 		Village Branch - Small Meeting Room

Groundbreaking Animals

 [14]The Natural History Education company will showcase animals that dig into the ground for their prey. See live animals such as a raccoon, opossum, bobcat and more. Registration required. 		Beaumont Branch - Large Conference Room

Something Old, Something New

 [15]Learn about the evolution of customs and traditions surrounding the wedding day. Changes in wedding traditions and customs are viewed as they evolved from the 17th century to present day. 		Tates Creek Branch - Large Conference Room
