Summer Reading Wee Reader Instructions

Recommended for birth to 2 years of age.

  • Starting the day you pick up your childs reading log or printing it from this page, check off each activitiy on the log as you complete it with your child.
  • Return the completed form by July 31, 2013, and be entered into a drawing for parents to win a Target gift card.
  • (NOTE: You can’t get prizes the same day you sign-up.)

What Makes A Good Book For Wee Readers?

  • Thick, sturdy cover and pages
  • Bright, colorful, clear pictures
  • Simple geometric shapes
  • Photos of faces, especially babies
  • Few words
  • Nursery rhymes
  • Stories with rhyme, rythm, and repetition

Summer Reading Events For Wee Readers

You can register to attend an event starting two weeks before it.

Summer Reading Kickoff Party

 [10]Join us to kick off the Summer Reading Program. Fun and activities for all ages. 		Village Branch - Large Meeting Room

Noteworthy Landscape Plants

 [11]Come learn all about proven landscape plant performers for the Bluegrass. These include shrubs and perennials, many native, that have outstanding ornamental attributes and few pest problems. 		Tates Creek Branch - Large Conference Room

Dinosaur Club

 [12]Come to the Dinosaur Club at the Village Branch to participate in all kinds of fun dinosaur activities! This program will be most enjoyed by children between the ages of 5 and 12. 		Village Branch - Small Meeting Room

Little Diggers Storytime

 [13]This story time will allow children to build reading readiness skills through stories, songs, finger plays, rhymes, and games. Children 5 and younger are welcome. 		Village Branch -

Groundbreaking Animals

 [14]The Natural History Education company will showcase animals that dig into the ground for their prey. See live animals such as a raccoon, opossum, bobcat and more. Recommended for ages 5 and up. 		Northside Branch - Large Conference Room

Dinosaur Club

 [15]Come to the Dinosaur Club at the Village Branch to participate in all kinds of fun dinosaur activities! This program will be most enjoyed by children between the ages of 5 and 12. 		Village Branch - Small Meeting Room
