The library is funded by the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, which allocates $.05 from every $100.00 received in county real estate property taxes. County funding provides Fayette County residents with the very best in facilities, collections and services. Unfortunately, we do not expect this allocation to increase.

As the library adapts to technological advances and growing diversity, funding for new programs must come from outside sources. The Library Board of Trustees created the Foundation to seek outside funds that would enhance the quality and range of Library services beyond the level that can be provided by county funding.
