Rain gardens are shallow, man-made landscape features designed to capture and reduce stromwater runoff. They allow stormwater to slowly infiltrate the soil rather than overwhelming the storm sewer which may potentially cause environmental and other problems downstream. Rain gardens are usually planted with native vegetation and provide an attractive addition to many landscapes. This talk will include information on planning, building, planting and maintained a rain garden. Registration is recommended, and all participants who register for the class will receive a copy of UK Extension publication, "Residential Rain Gardens: Design, Construction, and Maintenance."
